Intellectual impairment in patients with primary psychiatric is not rare, which in turn may lead to therapeutic neglect or inappropriate treatment. The recognition of this clinical syndrome should be obviate the need for many neurological diagnostic studies and lead to earlier and more effective psychiatric treatment.
